China has the history of more than 5,000 years. Many foreign people are attracted by this big old country. They come here and want to know about the traditional culture. However, Chinese young people don't show much interest in the old culture, instead they chase the fashion and some even abandon the precious culture. For example, paper cutting, one of the excellent arts that is inherited by our ancestors. Many foreign media speak highly of this great handicraft and they are astonished by the wisdom of Chinese people. I have seen this art when I stay in my hometown. Only few old people can do it. They just take it for killing time. Paper cutting is like the old fashion and is forgotten by the young generation. The media should report more positive information about the traditional culture to inspire the young people to learn.

This weekend, there was an art festival in our school, it had been hold for five years and the school insisted to make it become the feature. I was so excited, this was the first time for me to join. Early in the morning, I saw there were so many people coming to the campus, making the campus so lively. The students dressed so well and gave the warm welcome to the guests. I walked around and appreciated the painting, every work was drawn by the students, I was so impressed by these works. There were also some handworks, which were so creative, it reflected the students’ wisdom. Though we were busy with our subjects most of the time, some students still kept on their hobbies and made it their talent. I should learn from them and develop some interest.

What is art? When people think about this question, they will naturally think about all kinds of musical instruments or the great paintings in the art museums. Art seems to so far away from the ordinary people, but I don’t think so. Art is everywhere. For example, the delicious food that is made by our parents is the great art, and the value of the food is to bring people the great joy when they have a taste of it. The scenery around us is the visible art, when we appreciate it, our mood become eased. Art is something that brings people the positive value for me, so art is around everybody. If we take time to slow down our pace, then we can enjoy art from life and feel the comfortable lifestyle.

Many traditional arts are losing nowadays, because some of them have been replaced by the new machines and the scientific products. I feel so sorry about the losing arts, in my opinion, they are so classic and their charm will never fade away. Take my grandma for example. She is good at paper-cut which was inherited from her mother. But when comes to my mother’s generation, paper-cut seems to be kicked out, there are less people need it, so my mother doesn’t learn this skill. The paper-cut art is losing in my family. When I found my grandma had this skill, I was so surprised and curious about it. I asked my grandma to teach me this skill. During the process, I found this art was so great, I was attracted by it. Some traditional arts like paper-cup should be kept.
